1. Do you directly provide the skills and how do you apply?

CETA does not directly provider skills to the public. CETA provides funding to stakeholders within the construction sector for implementation of skills development programmes. Prospective learners should review construction entities for such opportunities and apply directly through them as advertised.

2. What is a learnership?

A learnership is a work-based learning programme that leads to a nationally recognised qualification. Learners enrolled in a learnership programmes have to complete classroom based learning and complete on job training in a workplace.

3. How long does it take to complete a learnership programme?

It usually takes a year but some learnership programmes can take up to 18 months.

4. What are the benefits of a Learnership

You will receive a nationally recognised qualification upon successful completion of the learnership and gain work experience that will improve your chances of getting employment or becoming your own employer.

5. What are the entry requirements?

Most entry requirements to learning programmes required a Grade 12 certificate. This is usually dictated by the type of learning programme.

6. What will the training cost?

You do not have to pay anything to participate in any CETA funded programme or any other SETA funded programme. The Construction SETA subsidises both the employer and training provider to cover the costs.

7. How can you apply?

One of the conditions of a learnership is that unemployed people must be employed by the employer for the duration of the learnership. Unemployed people can therefore only enter a learnership if there is an employer who is willing to take unemployed people into a learnership programme.
